About the new job.....

I thought I'd take a moment to explain what I do and where I do it! I am currently going through a very vigorous training course that will last me 15-18 months to complete it. I have went on two ride-alongs with the police departments and one with a Station in our fire district. I also went on a marine ride-along in a patrol boat! Such an awesome experience. The first 10ish weeks of my new job is learning our geographical region, what call signs are, what different departments do, and call types so I can be released to be a Call Receiver. I will then take a Radio training in about 6 months from now learning to be on Police Radio and then again in about 9 months to be on Fire Radio. I am a 911 Dispatcher!! I work for an agency that covers the Northeastern Area of King County. I love every minute of it right now and can not wait to start taking calls and saving lives. I think the 1 thing I'm most excited about is being able to help deliver someones baby it may take me years to get that call but I'm anxiously waiting it. I am beyond thankful for the opportunity to become a 911 Dispatcher and feel like this is my calling!!!
